Auli Tour Package from Andhra Pradesh: Itinerary, Travel Routes & Andhra Traveller’s Guide

🏔️ 5N/6D | Rishikesh – Auli – Joshimath | 🚗 Pickup: Dehradun Airport, Haridwar Jn, Rishikesh

Planned and reviewed by Govind Bisht, Operations, SnazzyTrips | Last updated: 27 October 2026

Auli is one of the few places in India where a family from Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada or Tirupati can stand on a ski slope and look straight at Nanda Devi. The catch is distance. Andhra Pradesh sits roughly 1,800–1,900 km from Haridwar, there is no non-stop flight from any AP airport to Dehradun, and the final 270 km from Rishikesh is a full day on a mountain highway. Plan it badly and you spend half the holiday tired in a car.

This package is built around that reality. You fly or take the train to Dehradun or Haridwar, rest one night in Rishikesh, then do the Garhwal drive in daylight with a driver who knows the Badrinath highway. Three nights in Auli give you time for the slopes, Gorson Bugyal and Joshimath without rushing, and the trip ends back in Rishikesh so your return flight or train is never at risk from a hill-road delay.

SnazzyTrips is a local Uttarakhand-based DMC operating since 2003, with teams in Haldwani and Dehradun. See all our Auli tour packages for other durations and starting points.

✅ Quick Answer: The SnazzyTrips Auli tour package from Andhra Pradesh is a 5N/6D trip starting at ₹28,999 per couple (Standard tier). Travellers reach Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport by a one-stop flight from Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada or Tirupati, or by train to Haridwar. The package covers Rishikesh, three nights in Auli, Gorson Bugyal and Joshimath. Flights and trains are not included.

⚖️ Auli vs Chopta: Which Should Andhra Pradesh Travellers Choose?

Two Garhwal snow destinations compared

✅ Quick Answer: For most Andhra Pradesh families, Auli is the better choice. It has proper hotels and resorts, a ski slope, an easy link to Badrinath and gentler walking. Chopta suits fit travellers who want the Tungnath–Chandrashila trek and are happy with basic camps or homestays. Both need the same flight or train to Dehradun or Haridwar.
Factor Auli Chopta
Altitude Approx. 2,500–3,050 m Approx. 2,680 m
Drive from Rishikesh About 270 km, 9–10 hrs About 200 km, 7–8 hrs
Main draw Ski slopes, meadows, Nanda Devi views Tungnath temple and Chandrashila trek
Stays Hotels and resorts Mostly camps and homestays
Walking needed Light (Gorson is optional) Moderate to steep trek
Winter access Road usually open; check after heavy snow Upper stretch often snowbound
Seniors Suitable Harder
Temple link Badrinath (seasonal) Tungnath (seasonal)
Skiing Yes, snow-dependent No organised skiing
🧳 Tip for Andhra Pradesh travellers: If your group mixes grandparents and teenagers, Auli works better. Seniors can enjoy the slopes and views from the hotel while younger members walk to Gorson Bugyal.

🥾 How Difficult is the Auli Trip?

Honest effort levels

✅ Quick Answer: The Auli trip is easy to moderate. The real effort is two long road days of 9–10 hours each on a winding highway, not trekking. In Auli itself, walking is light unless you choose Gorson Bugyal. Altitude is about 2,800 m, so some travellers may feel mild breathlessness on the first day.
  • Walking: Short walks on slopes; Gorson Bugyal is about 3 km each way on a forest trail.
  • Terrain: Grassy slopes in summer; packed snow and ice in winter, which needs proper footwear.
  • Altitude: Not high enough for serious altitude sickness in most people, but go slow on Day 2 evening.
  • Crowds: Busiest during peak snow weekends and the Christmas–New Year week.
  • Weather: Cold year-round at night; well below freezing in January.
  • Safety: The highway is landslide-prone in monsoon; we track road status daily.
  • Suitable for: Families, couples, seniors with no serious heart or lung conditions, children above about 4.
💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: We schedule an early-morning start on both drive days so that the Joshimath–Rudraprayag stretch is covered in daylight. If a road block appears, we would rather halt at Rudraprayag or Srinagar than push on in the dark.

❄️ Best Time to Visit Auli from Andhra Pradesh

Time your trip well

✅ Quick Answer: Visit between late December and February for snow and skiing, or between April and June for green meadows and the clearest Nanda Devi views. October and November are good for crisp, clear days without snow. Avoid July and August, when monsoon landslides often block the Badrinath highway. Snowfall is never guaranteed in any month.
Season Months What to Expect Good For
Winter Dec – Feb Snow likely, skiing season, sub-zero nights Snow lovers, skiing
Spring Mar – Apr Melting snow, clearing skies Fewer crowds
Summer May – Jun Green slopes, mild days, Badrinath open Families, seniors
Monsoon Jul – Aug Heavy rain, landslide risk Not recommended
Autumn Sep – Nov Clear peaks, cold nights Photography, couples
🧳 Tip for Andhra Pradesh travellers: Sankranti holidays in mid-January fall right in Auli’s snow season, and Dasara holidays usually line up with clear autumn weather. Both are peak travel windows from AP, so book flights early. For more snow-season options, browse our Uttarakhand snowfall and winter tours.

✈️ How to Reach Auli from Andhra Pradesh

Flight, train and road options

✅ Quick Answer: The fastest way is a one-stop flight from Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada or Tirupati to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, usually via Delhi or Bengaluru, taking about 5–10 hours. The budget option is the train to Haridwar or Saharanpur, taking roughly 35 hours from Vijayawada. From Dehradun or Haridwar, our cab handles everything to Auli.

✈️ By Flight

No AP airport has a non-stop flight to Dehradun. IndiGo, Air India and Air India Express run one-stop connections from Visakhapatnam (VTZ) and Vijayawada (VGA), and Tirupati (TIR) has one-stop options too. Rajahmundry flyers usually connect via Delhi or Hyderabad.

🚆 By Train

The 12687 Madurai–Chandigarh SF Express runs twice weekly through Vijayawada towards Saharanpur, from where Haridwar is a short connection; some listings show a Dehradun portion, so check the current route on IRCTC. From Visakhapatnam, take the 20805 AP Express or 12803 Swarna Jayanti Express to Delhi, then the Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi or Vande Bharat to Haridwar or Dehradun. Check running days before booking.

🔁 Via Delhi

Many AP travellers fly into Delhi (more frequent, often cheaper) and take a morning train to Haridwar the next day. This adds a night but reduces fare risk. If you want a longer riverside stopover on the way, see our Rishikesh tour packages.

🚗 By Road

Driving from AP is about 1,900 km and 28+ hours; not practical for a holiday. The only road leg we recommend is Dehradun/Haridwar to Auli, which our driver covers.

🚆 Train vs Flight from Andhra Pradesh

Factor Train Flight
Journey time About 35 hrs (Vijayawada–Haridwar) About 5–10 hrs with one stop
Approx. one-way fare per person Sleeper ₹750–1,000; 3AC ₹2,000–2,500 ₹8,000–16,000
Frequency Limited direct options; check days Daily one-stop options
Arrival point Haridwar / Saharanpur Jolly Grant, Dehradun
Best for Budget travellers with time Families short on leave
Extra days needed 2–3 days on the train each way None

All fares approximate; check IRCTC and airline websites.

🧳 Tip for Andhra Pradesh travellers: If you take the train, book the return Haridwar departure first and then fix your package dates around it. Limited weekly trains mean the return seat is the hardest part to secure.

💰 Total Trip Cost from Andhra Pradesh

What two people actually spend

✅ Quick Answer: For two people, a complete Auli trip from Andhra Pradesh costs roughly ₹33,000–40,000 by train with the Standard tier, and roughly ₹61,000–93,000 by flight with the Standard tier. The package price of ₹28,999 per couple covers the ground arrangements only; train or flight tickets from AP are extra.

Train 3AC (₹8,000–10,000) Premium ₹37,999 ₹46,000–48,000
Flight economy (₹32,000–64,000) Standard ₹28,999 ₹61,000–93,000
Flight economy (₹32,000–64,000) Luxury ₹52,999 ₹85,000–1,17,000

Approximate; check IRCTC/airline for live fares. Excludes skiing, ropeway/chairlift tickets and personal expenses.

🤝 Package vs Planning It Yourself

Is a package worth it for Auli?

✅ Quick Answer: For Auli, a package usually saves money and stress. Hiring a taxi one-way from Rishikesh means paying for the driver’s empty return, Auli hotels fill up fast in snow season, and road status changes daily. A local DMC handles the car, hotels and re-routing if a landslide blocks the highway.
Factor SnazzyTrips Package Do It Yourself
Vehicle ✔ One car and driver for all 6 days Separate taxis; empty-return charges
Hotels ✔ Pre-blocked, even in peak season Hard to find in snow season
Road delays ✔ We re-route or rebook stays You handle it alone
Ski lessons ✔ Arranged locally on request Find instructors yourself
Cost certainty ✔ Fixed price Varies daily
Support ✔ 24x7 phone line None

🩺 How to Prepare for the Auli Trip

Fitness, health and documents
