Haridwar Tour Package from Bihar: Itinerary, Train Routes, Rituals & Family Records Guide

🪔 3N/4D | Haridwar (base) – Rishikesh – Neelkanth Mahadev | 🚗 Pickup & Drop: Haridwar Jn

Planned and reviewed by Govind Bisht, Operations, SnazzyTrips | Last updated: 28 October 2026

From Patna, Ara, Buxar or Gaya, Haridwar is a single overnight train away. The Kumbha Express and Upasana Express together leave Patna Junction every night of the week and reach Haridwar the next afternoon. Families from south Bihar have the daily Doon Express from Gaya. On the way back, the trains leave Haridwar late at night, so your last day can include a final evening aarti before you board.

Many Bihar families come to Haridwar for more than sightseeing. Some come for asthi visarjan or shraddh rituals, others to find their family’s names in the genealogy records kept by Haridwar’s teerth purohits (pandas). This package is built for both kinds of visit: three nights in a single Haridwar hotel, so you never repack, with time for rituals, the main temples, a day trip to Rishikesh and Neelkanth Mahadev, and two evening aartis at Har Ki Pauri.

SnazzyTrips is a local Uttarakhand-based DMC operating since 2003, with teams in Haldwani and Dehradun. Longer and shorter versions are listed on our main Haridwar packages page.

✅ Quick Answer: The SnazzyTrips Haridwar tour package from Bihar is a 3N/4D trip starting at ₹13,999 per couple (Standard tier). The package keeps you in one Haridwar hotel and covers Har Ki Pauri, Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Kankhal, Rishikesh and Neelkanth Mahadev. Train tickets are not included.

🏨 One Base, No Packing Twice

Why this package stays in Haridwar all three nights

  • Rituals are easier: Asthi visarjan, shraddh and pujas often need an early start with a purohit. Staying near the ghats makes that simple.
  • Elders stay comfortable: No checking out and in again mid-trip.
  • Rishikesh is close: At about 25 km, it works well as a day trip.
  • The late train fits: You keep the hotel until the evening on Day 4, then go straight to the station after the aarti.
💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: For families coming for rituals, we book hotels within walking distance of Har Ki Pauri and request a late check-out on the departure day, so you can rest and change before the night train.

🙏 Asthi Visarjan, Shraddh and Family Rituals

Planned with care

✅ Quick Answer: Many Bihar families travel to Haridwar to immerse asthi in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri or to perform shraddh and related rituals at ghats such as Kushavarta. We can arrange a local purohit, plan the timing for an early morning and keep the rest of the day light. Tell us at booking so we can schedule it on Day 2.
  • Where: Asthi visarjan is commonly done at Har Ki Pauri; shraddh and pind-related rites are often performed at Kushavarta Ghat and nearby temples.
  • When: Early morning, before the ghats get crowded.
  • What we arrange: A purohit, transport to the ghat and a calm day plan around it.
  • What to bring: Asthi in a suitable container, white or simple clothes, and any family-specific items your priest suggests.
  • Fees: Dakshina and puja costs are paid directly to the priest and are not part of the package.
💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: We keep the ritual day free of long drives and suggest only the nearby ropeway temples afterwards. Families often prefer a quiet afternoon after the morning ceremony.

📜 Finding Your Family’s Panda Records

Haridwar’s genealogy registers

Haridwar’s teerth purohits have kept handwritten family registers (vanshavali) for generations. Records are usually organised by region and district, so a family from, say, Bhojpur or Darbhanga is looked after by the purohit families who hold records for that area. Many visitors find the names of grandparents and earlier ancestors who came to Haridwar long ago, and add their own names to the register.

What You Need Why
Your home district and village Records are organised by place
Surname and gotra Helps the purohit find the right family pages
Names of father, grandfather and great-grandfather Confirms you’re looking at the right record
Time (1–2 hours) Searching old registers takes a while

We can help you identify the right purohit for your district before you travel.

🧳 Tip for Bihar travellers: Ask the eldest family members for ancestors’ names and village details before you leave home. That makes the record search much faster.

⚖️ Haridwar vs Prayagraj: Which Should Bihar Travellers Choose?

Two great Ganga tirths compared

✅ Quick Answer: Prayagraj is closer to Bihar and has the Triveni Sangam, but Haridwar offers the evening aarti at Har Ki Pauri, hilltop temples by ropeway, Himalayan foothill scenery, and an easy add-on to Rishikesh and Neelkanth. Haridwar’s purohits also hold genealogy records for many Bihar families. Choose Prayagraj for a quick Sangam snan; choose Haridwar for a fuller pilgrimage.
Factor Haridwar Prayagraj
Distance from Patna Overnight train, about 18.5 hours Much closer, several hours
Main snan point Har Ki Pauri Triveni Sangam (by boat)
Evening aarti Famous Har Ki Pauri aarti Smaller ghat aartis
Nearby add-on Rishikesh, Neelkanth, Mussoorie Varanasi, Chitrakoot
Family records Purohit genealogy registers Also held by local purohits
Setting Himalayan foothills Plains
Best for Fuller 3–4 day pilgrimage Short ritual visit

🚶 How Difficult is the Haridwar Trip?

Effort and comfort

✅ Quick Answer: The trip is easy and suitable for all ages. Walking is mostly on flat ghats and in temple complexes, and ropeways take you up to Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi. The main challenges are evening crowds at Har Ki Pauri and the overnight train journey.
  • Walking: Mostly flat; short walks in temples and markets.
  • Hill temples: Ropeways remove the climb.
  • Altitude: Haridwar is in the plains, about 300 m; no altitude concerns.
  • Crowds: Heavy at the evening aarti and on major snan days.
  • River safety: The Ganga current is strong; bathe only where safety chains are fixed.
  • Suitable for: Families, seniors, children and first-time visitors.

🌤️ Best Time to Visit Haridwar from Bihar

Planning around the weather and festivals

✅ Quick Answer: October to March is the most comfortable time. April is warm; May and June are very hot. July and August bring monsoon rain and huge Kanwar Yatra crowds. Trains to and from Bihar are extremely busy around Chhath, Diwali and Holi, so book early or travel just before or after those dates.
Months Haridwar Conditions Bihar Calendar Note
Oct – Nov Pleasant, clear evenings Durga Puja and Diwali holidays; return before Chhath rush
Dec – Feb Cool days, foggy mornings Winter break; trains may run late in fog
Mar – Apr Warm, comfortable Around Holi; book trains early
May – Jun Very hot Summer vacation; plan early mornings and evenings
Jul – Aug Monsoon, Kanwar Yatra crowds Avoid unless joining Kanwar
Sep Humid, rain easing Pitru Paksha: many families come for shraddh
🧳 Tip for Bihar travellers: If you’re coming for shraddh, Pitru Paksha (usually September–October) is the traditional time, and Haridwar is busier then. Book hotels and the purohit early.
