Haridwar Tour Package from Kerala: Itinerary, Flight & Train Routes and Ganga Yatra Guide

6 Nights / 7 Days | Haridwar 3N + Rishikesh 3N | Pickup from Dehradun Airport, Delhi, or Haridwar / Yog Nagari Rishikesh Station

Planned and reviewed by Rohit kumar , Operations, SnazzyTrips |

Kerala is about as far from Haridwar as you can get within India. The rail route is roughly 3,400 km, and there are no non-stop flights between Kerala and Dehradun. That distance changes how the trip should be planned. A two-day Haridwar visit doesn't justify the journey, so this package gives you a full week on the Ganga: three nights in Haridwar for the temples, holy dip and rituals, and three nights in Rishikesh for Neelkanth Mahadev, the ashrams and slower river days.

Most Kerala families fly with one connection, through Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru, into Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport. For families who prefer the train, a weekly superfast express runs from Thiruvananthapuram North right through to Yog Nagari Rishikesh, stopping at Haridwar.

SnazzyTrips is a local Uttarakhand-based DMC operating since 2003, with teams in Haldwani and Dehradun. Our own team handles every pickup, hotel and drive. See all our Haridwar pilgrimage packages.

✅ Quick Answer: A Haridwar tour package from Kerala is a 6N/7D trip with 3 nights in Haridwar and 3 in Rishikesh, covering Har Ki Pauri, Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Kankhal, Neelkanth Mahadev and Triveni Ghat. Most travellers fly from Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram or Kozhikode to Dehradun with one stop, about 4.5–6 hours. The land package starts from ₹17,999 per couple.

Quick Itinerary

One week on the Ganga

Day Plan Stay
Day 1 Arrive Dehradun airport (or Delhi), transfer to Haridwar, rest Haridwar
Day 2 Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi by ropeway, Maya Devi, evening Ganga Aarti Haridwar
Day 3 Early snan at Har Ki Pauri, Kankhal, pind daan or tarpan if planned Haridwar
Day 4 Bharat Mata Mandir, Shantikunj, drive to Rishikesh, Triveni Ghat aarti Rishikesh
Day 5 Neelkanth Mahadev Temple (morning), afternoon rest Rishikesh
Day 6 Ram Jhula, Vashishta Gufa, Parmarth Niketan aarti Rishikesh
Day 7 Drop at Dehradun airport (about 20 km) or Delhi —

How Does Each Day Look?

Day-by-day details

DAY 1  •  ✈️ ARRIVAL & REST

Arrival and transfer to Haridwar

Our driver meets you at Jolly Grant Airport, about 1–1.5 hours from Haridwar, or at Delhi airport or station for the longer drive. Check in and rest. No sightseeing is planned for this day.

💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: After a full day of connecting flights from Kerala, we deliberately keep Day 1 empty. The Ganga Aarti happens every evening, so moving it to Day 2 costs you nothing.

🏨 Overnight: Haridwar

DAY 2  •  🪔 TEMPLES & AARTI

Ropeway temples and Ganga Aarti

Take the ropeway to Mansa Devi in the morning, then the second ropeway to Chandi Devi. Visit Maya Devi Temple in the afternoon, and reach Har Ki Pauri an hour before sunset for the aarti.

🏨 Overnight: Haridwar

DAY 3  •  🌊 SNAN & RITUALS

Holy dip and rituals in Kankhal

Take the early-morning snan at Har Ki Pauri. Then visit Daksh Prajapati Temple in Kankhal, and use the rest of the day for any ancestral rites with a local pandit.

🏨 Overnight: Haridwar

DAY 4  •  🌉 ON TO RISHIKESH

Haridwar to Rishikesh

Visit Bharat Mata Mandir and Shantikunj after breakfast, then drive about 25 km to Rishikesh. Check in near the river and attend the evening aarti at Triveni Ghat.

🏨 Overnight: Rishikesh

DAY 5  •  🔱 NEELKANTH MAHADEV

Neelkanth Mahadev

Leave early for Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, about 30 km away on a winding hill road (1–1.5 hours each way). Return by early afternoon and rest.

💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: We always schedule Neelkanth for early morning. Queues and traffic on the narrow road build up from late morning, especially on Mondays and in the Shravan month.

🏨 Overnight: Rishikesh

DAY 6  •  🧘 SLOW RIVER DAY

Rishikesh at an easy pace

Walk across Ram Jhula to the ashram area, then drive to Vashishta Gufa, a quiet meditation cave about 25 km upstream. Finish with the Parmarth Niketan Ganga Aarti.

🏨 Overnight: Rishikesh

DAY 7  •  🏁 DEPARTURE

Departure

Jolly Grant Airport is only about 20 km from Rishikesh, which makes departure day easy. For Delhi departures, we leave early to allow 6–7 hours on the road.

Haridwar vs Prayagraj: Which Ganga Pilgrimage Suits Kerala Families?

Two of India's holiest river cities, compared

✅ Quick Answer: Choose Haridwar for the Ganga as it leaves the Himalayas, the Har Ki Pauri aarti, and a calmer second base in Rishikesh. Choose Prayagraj for the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati meet, and to combine with Varanasi or Ayodhya. For a first North India yatra from Kerala, Haridwar with Rishikesh is the more relaxed week.
Factor Haridwar Prayagraj
Sacred waters Ganga, fast and cold from the hills Triveni Sangam of three rivers
Holy dip From the ghat steps at Har Ki Pauri By boat to the Sangam point
Evening aarti Har Ki Pauri Ganga Aarti Sangam and Dashashwamedh-style ghat aartis
Ancestral rites Pind daan, tarpan, asthi visarjan Asthi visarjan at the Sangam, pind daan
Kumbh Mela Yes Yes, including the Maha Kumbh
Setting Himalayan foothills Gangetic plains
Climate Cooler, pleasant winters Hotter and more humid for longer
Natural pairing Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Char Dham Varanasi, Ayodhya
Direct train from Kerala Weekly 22659 via Haridwar Check current options on IRCTC
Best for A slower week by the Ganga, seniors A multi-city Uttar Pradesh pilgrimage
🧳 Tip for Kerala travellers: Families used to bali tharpanam at home will find that Haridwar and Kankhal have a long tradition of tarpan and pind daan for ancestors. Tell us your family's practice, and we'll arrange a pandit who follows a similar ritual.

How Difficult is the Haridwar Trip?

Comfort, climate and safety

✅ Quick Answer: The trip is easy. Haridwar and Rishikesh are low-altitude river towns, ropeways cover the hill temples, and daily walking is light. The main challenges for Kerala travellers are the long journey and the dry North Indian cold in winter, which feels very different from Kerala's humid warmth.
  • 🚶 Walking: 2–4 km a day, mostly around ghats, temple lanes and ashram areas.
  • ⛰️ Hill roads: Only the Neelkanth and Vashishta Gufa drives involve hill bends. Both are optional.
  • 👥 Crowds: Heavy at the Har Ki Pauri aarti, and at Neelkanth on Mondays and during Shravan.
  • 🌡️ Weather: Haridwar winters go down to around 5°C at night, and summers go above 40°C. Both extremes are well beyond Kerala's range.
  • ⛓️ River safety: The Ganga is much colder and faster than Kerala's rivers. Hold the chains during the dip.
  • ✔️ Suitable for: Seniors, children and first-time North India travellers. Skip Neelkanth if anyone gets car-sick.
🧳 Tip for Kerala travellers: The Ganga water in Haridwar is cold even in summer, and icy from December to February. Keep the dip short, and have dry clothes and a shawl ready on the ghat steps.

Best Time to Visit Haridwar from Kerala

Fitting the trip around Kerala's calendar

✅ Quick Answer: October to March is the best time to visit Haridwar from Kerala, with comfortable days and cool nights. February–March and October–November are the most pleasant. Avoid July–August for Kanwar Yatra crowds, and plan proper woollens for December–January.
Season Months Haridwar & Rishikesh Kerala calendar fit
🍂 Post-monsoon Oct – Nov Pleasant, clear Pooja holidays, Mandala season start
❄️ Winter Dec – Feb Cold, foggy mornings Christmas holidays, travel after Sabarimala season
🌸 Spring Mar – Apr Warm, comfortable Vishu break, after school exams
☀️ Summer May – Jun Very hot afternoons, crowded Summer vacation, before Kerala monsoon
🌧️ Monsoon Jul – Sep Rain, Kanwar crowds, road disruptions Karkidakam and Onam, best avoided for this trip
💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: Fog in December–January can delay connecting flights through Delhi. On winter bookings, we keep Day 1 free and recommend connections through Mumbai or Bengaluru where possible.

How to Reach Haridwar from Kerala

Flight, train and road options

✅ Quick Answer: The most practical route is a one-stop flight from Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram or Kozhikode to Dehradun via Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru, then a 1–1.5 hour drive to Haridwar. The weekly 22659 superfast runs from Thiruvananthapuram North to Yog Nagari Rishikesh via Haridwar in about 52–57 hours.

✈️ By flight (recommended)

There are no non-stop flights from Kerala to Dehradun. Fly with one connection through Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru on IndiGo, Air India or Air India Express. Total travel time is usually 4.5–6 hours plus the layover.

🏙️ By flight to Delhi, then road

Fly non-stop from Kochi or Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi, then drive about 220 km (5–6 hours) to Haridwar. You can also take the Dehradun Shatabdi or Jan Shatabdi train from Delhi (about 4–5 hours).

🚆 By train: 22659 Thiruvananthapuram North–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Superfast

This weekly train starts from Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) and stops at Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam Jn, Thrissur, Shoranur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. It continues along the Konkan route and through Delhi, reaching Haridwar Junction and Yog Nagari Rishikesh about 52–57 hours later. The return 22660 is also weekly. Check current running days on IRCTC.

🚉 Via Delhi by train

The daily Kerala Express runs from Thiruvananthapuram to New Delhi, with a connecting train or road transfer from there to Haridwar. This route is long, so plan an overnight halt in Delhi.

Flight vs Weekly Train

Factor ✈️ One-stop flight 🚆 22659 weekly train
Journey time 4.5–6 hours + layover About 52–57 hours
Frequency Several options daily Once a week each way
Kerala boarding TRV, COK, CCJ or CNN airports 8 Kerala stations from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod
Arrives at Dehradun, 35–40 km from Haridwar Haridwar Junction directly
Fits a 6N/7D package Easily Only with a longer stay, because of the weekly timing
Best for Most families, seniors Large groups with long holidays, rail lovers
🧳 Tip for Kerala travellers: Because the train runs only once a week, a full round trip by rail means 10–12 days or more away from home. Many families take the train one way to enjoy the journey and fly back.

Total Trip Cost from Kerala

All fares are approximate. Check IRCTC and the airlines for current prices. Package prices are per couple for 6N/7D.

Package vs Planning It Yourself

What changes when you book with a local team
