Haridwar Tour Package from Mumbai: Itinerary, Dehradun Express Route & Ganga-to-Hills Guide

6 Nights / 7 Days | Haridwar 3N + Rishikesh 1N + Mussoorie 2N | Pickup from Haridwar Station or Dehradun Airport

Planned and reviewed by Rohit kumar , Operations, SnazzyTrips |

For Mumbai families, Haridwar is a long way from home: about 1,600 km by rail and more than a day on the train. Most families who make the journey want more than two days at the ghats, which is why this package pairs the pilgrimage with the hills. You get three nights in Haridwar for Har Ki Pauri, the temples and rituals, one night in Rishikesh, and two nights in Mussoorie to finish the trip in cool mountain air.

Getting there is simpler than the distance suggests. The daily Dehradun Express leaves Bandra Terminus just after midnight and reaches Haridwar early the morning after next. Direct flights from Mumbai to Dehradun take a little over two hours.

SnazzyTrips is a local Uttarakhand-based DMC operating since 2003, with teams in Haldwani and Dehradun. We handle every transfer, hotel and driver on the ground ourselves. See all our Haridwar holiday tours for shorter options.

✅ Quick Answer: A Haridwar tour package from Mumbai is a 6N/7D trip: 3 nights in Haridwar, 1 in Rishikesh and 2 in Mussoorie. It covers Har Ki Pauri, Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Kankhal, Ram Jhula, Kempty Falls and Mall Road. Travel by the daily Dehradun Express (19019, about 31 hours) or a direct flight to Dehradun (about 2–2.5 hours). The land package starts from ₹19,999 per couple.

How Does Each Day Look?

Day-by-day details

DAY 1  •  🪔 ARRIVAL & AARTI

Arrival in Haridwar

The Dehradun Express reaches Haridwar Junction around 8 AM, and we pick you up at the station or at Jolly Grant Airport. After check-in and rest, visit Maya Devi Temple, then attend the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri.

💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: Even though the train arrives early, we don't schedule temple visits before noon on Day 1. After a 31-hour journey, a few hours' rest makes the evening aarti far more enjoyable.

🏨 Overnight: Haridwar

DAY 2  •  🚡 ROPEWAY TEMPLES

Ropeway temples and Bharat Mata Mandir

Take the morning ropeway to Mansa Devi Temple, then the second ropeway to Chandi Devi. In the afternoon, visit Bharat Mata Mandir and Shantikunj.

🏨 Overnight: Haridwar

DAY 3  •  🌊 SNAN & KANKHAL

Ganga snan and Kankhal

Take the holy dip at Har Ki Pauri early, when the ghat is quieter. Visit Daksh Prajapati Temple in Kankhal. Keep the afternoon free for rituals or rest.

🏨 Overnight: Haridwar

DAY 4  •  🌉 ON TO RISHIKESH

Haridwar to Rishikesh

Drive about 25 km to Rishikesh after breakfast. Walk across Ram Jhula, visit the riverside ashrams, and attend the evening aarti at Triveni Ghat.

🏨 Overnight: Rishikesh

DAY 5  •  🏔️ UP TO MUSSOORIE

Rishikesh to Mussoorie

Drive about 75–80 km via Dehradun to Mussoorie, roughly 3 hours. Check in and spend the evening on Mall Road.

💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: The last stretch from Dehradun to Mussoorie climbs through tight hairpin bends. We schedule this drive for the morning, when traffic is lighter, and keep motion-sickness stops built in.

🏨 Overnight: Mussoorie

DAY 6  •  🌲 MUSSOORIE SIGHTSEEING

Mussoorie sightseeing

Visit Kempty Falls in the morning, then Gun Hill (by ropeway when it's operating), Camel's Back Road and the quieter Landour area. Evening at leisure.

🏨 Overnight: Mussoorie

DAY 7  •  🏁 DEPARTURE

Departure

Drive down to Jolly Grant Airport (about 60 km, 1.5–2 hours) for your flight. For the return train, we drop you at Haridwar in time for the 19020 Dehradun Express departure, which means leaving Mussoorie early.

Haridwar vs Nashik (Trimbakeshwar): Which Pilgrimage Should Mumbai Families Choose?

A distant Kumbh city or the one close to home

✅ Quick Answer: Choose Nashik–Trimbakeshwar for a short weekend pilgrimage to a Jyotirlinga and the Godavari, just 170 km from Mumbai. Choose Haridwar for a full week-long yatra: the Ganga, Har Ki Pauri's aarti, asthi visarjan, and an extension into Rishikesh and Mussoorie. Many Mumbai families do Nashik often, and Haridwar once in a while.
Factor Haridwar Nashik–Trimbakeshwar
Sacred river Ganga Godavari
Distance from Mumbai About 1,600 km by rail About 170 km by road
Time needed 6–9 days 1–2 days
Main shrine Har Ki Pauri, Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Maya Devi Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga
Known rituals Asthi visarjan, pind daan, Ganga snan Narayan Nagbali, Kaal Sarp puja, Ramkund asthi visarjan
Evening aarti Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri Godavari aarti at Ramkund
Kumbh Mela Yes, one of four Kumbh cities Yes, one of four Kumbh cities
Nearby add-ons Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Char Dham Shirdi, Saptashrungi, Panchavati
Best for Once-in-a-while family yatra with hills Quick or repeat weekend pilgrimage
🧳 Tip for Mumbai travellers: If your family's main purpose is a specific puja like Narayan Nagbali or Kaal Sarp, Trimbakeshwar is the traditional place for it. Haridwar is the right choice for Ganga snan, asthi visarjan in the Ganga, and a broader pilgrimage holiday.

How Difficult is This Trip?

Ghats, hill roads and weather

✅ Quick Answer: The Haridwar and Rishikesh part is easy and flat. Mussoorie adds hill-road driving and some uphill walking around Mall Road and Landour, which most families manage at an easy pace. The main things to plan for are the long train journey and the cold in winter.
  • 🚶 Walking: 2–4 km a day in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Mussoorie has steeper lanes, so walk slowly.
  • ⛰️ Altitude: Haridwar is at about 300 m, while Mussoorie is around 2,000 m. Expect cool evenings in Mussoorie even in summer.
  • 🛣️ Hill roads: The Dehradun–Mussoorie road has many hairpin bends. Carry motion-sickness tablets.
  • 👥 Crowds: Heavy at the Har Ki Pauri aarti, and on Mussoorie's Mall Road on weekends and in May–June.
  • ⛓️ River safety: The Ganga at Haridwar is fast and cold. Hold the chains during the dip.
  • ✔️ Suitable for: Families, seniors (with an unhurried pace) and children. Seniors with mobility issues can skip Landour and Gun Hill.
🧳 Tip for Mumbai travellers: Mumbai's humid warmth doesn't prepare you for dry mountain cold. Even in October and March, Mussoorie evenings can drop below 10°C, so pack a proper jacket, not just a shawl.

Best Time to Visit Haridwar and Mussoorie from Mumbai

Fitting the trip around Mumbai's holidays

✅ Quick Answer: October–November and March–April are the best times for this package from Mumbai. Haridwar is pleasant, and Mussoorie is clear and cool. May–June works for escaping Mumbai's heat but brings hill-station crowds. Avoid the monsoon months, July to September.
Season Months Haridwar Mussoorie Mumbai holiday fit
🍂 Post-monsoon Oct – Nov Pleasant Clear views, cool Diwali vacation
❄️ Winter Dec – Feb Cold mornings, fog Very cold, occasional snow (not guaranteed) Christmas break
🌸 Spring Mar – Apr Warm, comfortable Pleasant, flowers After school exams
☀️ Summer May – Jun Hot afternoons Peak season, crowded Summer vacation
🌧️ Monsoon Jul – Sep Kanwar crowds, rain Landslide risk on roads Ganpati; avoid if possible
💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: For May–June trips, we book Mussoorie hotels as early as possible and avoid weekend nights on Mall Road where we can. Peak-season traffic between Dehradun and Mussoorie can double the drive time.

How to Reach Haridwar from Mumbai

Train, flight and road options

✅ Quick Answer: Take the daily 19019 Dehradun Express from Bandra Terminus or Borivali to Haridwar, about 31 hours, or a direct flight from Mumbai or Navi Mumbai to Dehradun, about 2–2.5 hours, followed by a 1–1.5 hour drive to Haridwar.

🚆 By train: Dehradun Express (19019 / 19020)

This daily train, one of the oldest on the route, departs Bandra Terminus around 12:20 AM, stops at Borivali shortly after, and reaches Haridwar Junction around 8 AM the next day. The return 19020 leaves Haridwar in the early afternoon and reaches Bandra Terminus late at night the following day. Some superfast and special trains also run from Bandra Terminus and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus on certain days, so check IRCTC.

✈️ By flight

Direct flights run daily from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) to Dehradun, mainly on IndiGo, Air India and Air India Express. IndiGo also flies from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI). Flight time is about 2–2.5 hours.

🏙️ Via Delhi

Fly or take a Rajdhani to Delhi, then the Dehradun Shatabdi or Jan Shatabdi to Haridwar (about 4–5 hours). This helps when direct options are full.

🚗 By road

About 1,700 km through Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi, taking 28–30 hours of driving. Only practical as a planned multi-day road trip.

Dehradun Express vs Direct Flight

Factor 🚆 Dehradun Express ✈️ Direct flight
Journey time About 31–32 hours About 2–2.5 hours + drive
Frequency Daily Multiple flights daily
Mumbai boarding Bandra Terminus, Borivali BOM or NMI airport
Arrives at Haridwar Junction, early morning Jolly Grant, Dehradun
Extra days needed About 2–3 (both ways) None
Best for Budget-focused families, groups Short leave, seniors
🧳 Tip for Mumbai travellers: Families in the western suburbs can board at Borivali instead of Bandra Terminus. It saves a late-night drive through the city, but confirm Borivali as your boarding station when booking.

Package vs Planning It Yourself

Three towns, one plan

✅ Quick Answer: For a three-town trip covering Haridwar, Rishikesh and Mussoorie, a package saves the most effort: three hotel check-ins, two transfers with luggage and a hill drive all need coordinating. A DIY trip works better if you're only staying in Haridwar.
Factor SnazzyTrips package Self-planned
Arrival pickup ✔ Matched to live train/flight status Find a taxi on arrival
Transfers between 3 towns ✔ One private vehicle throughout Separate cabs or buses each time
Hill driving to Mussoorie ✔ Experienced mountain driver Local taxi, variable quality
Hotels ✔ Checked for location and access Booked from listings
Rituals in Haridwar ✔ Pandit and ghat arranged Arranged at the ghat
