By Road (Recommended Route)

Two practical road routes connect Delhi with Munsiyari. The Almora route passes through Haldwani, Bhowali, Almora, Dhaulchina, Thal, and Birthi Falls, covering approximately 560–580 km and taking around 15–16 hours.

The Tanakpur route travels via Rampur, Tanakpur, Champawat, and Pithoragarh, covering approximately 616–630 km and taking 16–18 hours. This route includes sharper mountain bends between Tanakpur and Pithoragarh, which some travellers may find less comfortable.

This package follows the Almora route and includes planned overnight halts, allowing travellers to enjoy the journey rather than attempting an exhausting single-day drive.

By Train

Kathgodam and Tanakpur are the nearest railway stations, both located approximately 275–286 km from Munsiyari. The onward drive typically takes around 9–10 hours.

Popular train options from Delhi include the Kathgodam Shatabdi, Ranikhet Express, and Uttar Sampark Kranti Express. Advance reservations are highly recommended during peak travel seasons.

By Air

Pantnagar Airport is the most practical airport option and lies approximately 230–250 km from Munsiyari, with connecting flights from Delhi.

Although Pithoragarh's Naini Saini Airport is geographically closer at roughly 125 km, its commercial flight schedule remains limited and irregular. For this reason, we do not recommend planning fixed itineraries around its availability.

Mobile Connectivity: Mobile network coverage becomes patchy after Thal and can disappear entirely on certain stretches approaching Munsiyari.

ATM Availability: Carry sufficient cash before leaving Almora or Kathgodam. ATM facilities are limited once you enter the interior mountain roads.

Fuel Stops: Fuel stations become increasingly sparse beyond Almora. Always top up before beginning the final mountain stretch.
